The Cliff Dwellers
200 S Michigan Avenue, 22nd Floor

The highlight of this year's annual gala will be the world premiere of Carter Pann’s flute trio. Dr. Pann was a 2016 Pulitzer Prize Finalist in Music, and we are eagerly looking forward to the performance of his new SDG-commissioned work for flute, cello, and piano. The performing musicians will be:
Jennie Brown, flute
Kurt Fowler, cello
Jennifer Blyth, piano
A 2016 Pulitzer Prize Finalist in Music, Carter Pann is an Associate Professor of Composition at the University of Colorado Boulder. He has written for musicians around the world, garnering performances by ensembles such as the London Symphony, the Tchaikovsky Symphony in Moscow, many radio symphonies around Europe, and the Seattle Symphony. Pann has been awarded a Charles Ives Fellowship, a Masterprize seat in London, and five ASCAP awards over the years. His numerous albums encompass solo, vocal, chamber, orchestral and wind music and have received two Grammy nominations to date.
Jennie Brown embraces an entrepreneurial spirit in her career. As an Innova Recording Artist, she released her debut solo CD The Music of Joseph Schwantner in 2015. She is also the Artistic Director of Picosa, a Chicago-based chamber ensemble that performs an eclectic body of repertoire from around the globe and across the centuries, from Baroque to new experimental music. Dr. Brown teaches at Elmhurst College and at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music.
