WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SOLI DEO GLORIA?
Soli Deo Gloria takes its name from a Latin phrase that Bach inscribed on many of his compositions — “to God alone be the glory.” Since its establishment as a nonprofit organization in 1993, Soli Deo Gloria has sought to support the creation and performance of sacred classical music at the highest level, to the glory of God. Commissions for new sacred music from the world’s leading composers are at the heart of Soli Deo Gloria’s mission. In addition, the organization sponsors sacred music concerts and recordings around the world. Click here for more information and to see our mission in action.

CAN SDG SPONSOR A PERFORMANCE WITH OUR ENSEMBLE?
Soli Deo Gloria has an international concert sponsorship program designed to promote the performance of sacred music in areas of the world where this genre is rarely performed and where it is financially challenging to produce large-scale works under the direction of world-class conductors. If you believe your ensemble would be a candidate for this program, please click here to download an application form.

WILL YOU CONSIDER FUNDING A COMMISSION FOR MY COMPOSITION?
The world is a musically rich place these days, and that’s good news indeed! Knowing this, however, we must admit that there are more talented composers writing music than we have the capacity to support. We invite you to check out our list of commissions to familiarize yourself with the kind of pieces that are commissioned by SDG. If you believe your work meets with the aims of SDG, you may forward your biographical materials and samples of your work (scores and recordings) to our board of directors for consideration (mailing address below). Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like the materials to be returned to you. Notification is otherwise reserved for positive responses only.

DO YOU HAVE YOUR OWN RECORD LABEL?
No, the recordings sponsored by SDG have been released on commercial record labels such as EMI/Virgin Classics and Elektra Nonesuch. To listen to excerpts and purchase recordings sponsored by SDG, visit our "Listen in" page. You might also wonder if our organization is connected to Sir John Eliot Gardiner’s Soli Deo Gloria record label. This record label is a separate organization that has sponsored a wonderful series of recordings of cantatas by J. S. Bach, but is not associated with our organization. Bach’s famous inscription, SDG (Soli Deo Gloria), is an inspiration to us all.

HOW CAN I AUDITION?
We love to hear great music, but we are not a performing ensemble and therefore do not hold auditions.
