History was made when SDG returned to Costa Rica in 2009 when conductor John Nelson led the National Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of Costa Rica in the first known performance of J. S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor in the history of Central America.(See Project Uplift: Costa Rica 2006 for details on the first visit.) The concerts took place in the capital city of San José on Friday, June 12, and Sunday, June 14, with the National Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of Costa Rica, and soloists Michelle Areyzaga, Denise Gamez, Edward Mout and Stephen Morscheck.
