Teatro Nacional - San Jose, Costa RicaPreparations continue for the first known performances of J. S. Bach’s celebrated Mass in B Minor, in the country of Costa Rica. These SDG-sponsored performances will take place on Friday, June 12, and Sunday, June 14, and will feature the National Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of Costa Rica, and soloists Michelle Areyzaga, Denise Gamez, Edward Mout and Stephen Morscheck, all under the direction of conductor John Nelson.

Several folks in the SDG community have expressed interest in traveling to San Jose, Costa Rica to share in the experience. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact us and let us know!

In 2006, SDG partnered with Costa Rica’s National Symphony Orchestra and Choir and the Cafe Choir, for performances of Verdi’s Four Sacred Pieces. Click here for video footage from the project, including an interview with Maestro Nelson.
