The title of Bannister’s piece, Et iterum venturus est, is taken from the Nicene Creed, and is translated, “And he shall come again”. The work dually focuses on the Advent and Second Coming of Christ. Et iterum venturus est received its world premiere performance on the eve of Messiaen’s 100 birthday anniversary, in the final concert of the centenary cycle at Messiaen’s own Paris church of La Trinité.
