Psalms Project takes flight

At 8 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009, the Wheaton College Concert Choir will present the premiere performance of Preserve Me, O God, a new choral work by American composer Daniel Kellogg, written under commission from SDG. Kellogg’s piece is the first in a series of choral works based on Psalm texts to be commissioned by SDG. Psalm 16 was chosen as the inspiration for Preserve Me, O God at the suggestion of Dr. Howard Matson, in whose honor the piece was commissioned. A retired pastor and man of enduring faith, Dr. Matson clung to the words of Psalm 16 in an intense way over a period of several years as he battled a life-threatening lung disease.
